Sports car found in mud after joyride
By: Journal Inquirer Staff

EAST WINDSOR - A sports sedan stolen in South Windsor was found abandoned in a farmer's field here Saturday morning after a joyriding thief apparently got mired in the mud.
East Windsor police discovered the car in a field owned by Mulnite Farms Inc. off Wapping Road. Police determined that the car belonged to a South Windsor resident and called police in the neighboring town.

The owner didn't know the car was missing until police called, South Windsor police Sgt. Scott Custer said.

Custer said the car was probably hot wired, since both sets of keys were with the owner, and was most likely used to go "four-wheeling," although it is a rear-wheel drive car.

AAA was called to tow the car out of the mud, he added.

People often put a spare set of keys in the glove compartment and leave the car unlocked - and kids take it for a joy ride, Custer said. But he said that wasn't the case in this incident.
