EW filling station robbed at gunpoint
By: Journal Inquirer Staff
EAST WINDSOR - A South Main Street filling station and its employees were robbed at gunpoint Sunday night, but no one was injured, according to officials.
The Sunoco station on 11 South Main St. was closing for the night when a masked gunman entered the store, pointed a long-barreled silver revolver at one of the employees, and ordered him to the ground, according to police.
The suspect then turned the handgun to the second employee and demanded that she "open the drawer" and give him money, police said.
She complied. The suspect fled on foot and got away with an undetermined amount of money.
When police arrived at the scene they used a police dog in an effort to track the suspect.
"Dogs tracked the person across and down the street, and then lost the scent," said Kelley Tebbets, the store manager.
In a telephone interview today, Tebbets theorized that a vehicle picked up the suspect.
The video obtained from the store showed the suspect as a light-skinned male of medium build, with blue eyes, according to police. He was wearing a white, hooded sweatshirt, with a blue scarf covering his face, police said, adding that he was wearing dark pants, white sneakers, and dark gloves.
