EAST WINDSOR - A woman slammed her vehicle repeatedly into the front doors of the Police Department about 7:30 a.m. today before speeding away and being apprehended by police, officials said.
The woman, Lillian Dunn, 68, of 24 Laurel Circle, drove her vehicle twice into the building, smashing the front doors, the second time while attempting to hit an officer, police said.

Dunn was charged with operating under the influence, first-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree criminal mischief, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, interfering with an officer, and first-degree conspiracy to commit assault.

"We have witnesses and evidence of her arriving at the station, and going to the back of the building with her head and face covered with a blanket to hide identity," Police Chief Edward DeMarco said.

She then came around to the front, and premeditatedly and intentionally hit the front door twice, he said.

"The whole building shook. Detective Matthew Carl went to investigate the loud crash. When he arrived at the lobby area in the vestibule she attempted to hit the officer and struck the building a second time," he said.

Dunn is being held in lieu of $250,000, and was to be presented at Enfield Superior Court today.

When she was covered with a blanket behind the police station where there are cars and police staff entering and leaving the building, the chief said, "It was definitely a scary situation."

Police did not know today what Dunn's motivation was.
