EAST WINDSOR - Emergency personnel revived an unresponsive 3-month-old infant at an unlicensed day-care facility in the Broad Brook section of town Monday, police said.
Police responded to a 911 call at about 10:30 a.m. at a duplex at 82A Main St., where a male infant was found to be unresponsive, police said.
Officer Bryon Smith initiated CPR, and the infant was transported via ambulance to Connecticut Children's Medical Center, where the baby was stabilized Monday night, police said.
"It appears the baby was unresponsive for several minutes," Capt. Roger T. Hart said today, adding it wasn't until the paramedics arrived and were able to "work their magic" that a heartbeat was detected.
According to Sgt. Michael Hannaford, the incident "involved suspicious circumstances," because the infant was found "with blood around its nose and mouth." It is being investigated by detectives and state police.
He was being cared for at an in-home day-care facility where Patricia Goodnough lives, at 82A Main St. That address is not on the state health department's list of licensed day-care homes.
Goodnough was watching more than one child.
"She is genuinely upset about this situation," Hannaford said.
"She readily admits that she was providing care to these children, and this was apparently a source of income for her," Hannaford said today.
No further information regarding the infant's condition was available today.
