EAST WINDSOR - Two Massachusetts men were charged Tuesday with stealing lottery tickets from two Bridge Street convenience stores in early November, police said. During one incident, a store clerk suffered a broken arm after being struck by the getaway vehicle, police said.
Scott B. Lauzon, 28, of Ludlow, Mass., and Timothy C. Fournier, 25, of Springfield, were already in state custody on similar charges in a Windsor case, police said. Hartford, Windsor, and Springfield police, as well as members of the public, assisted in charging Lauzon and Fournier with the incidents, according to police.
Lauzon and Fournier were each charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree assault, and two counts of fifth-degree larceny, according to police. They were also charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit assault, and two counts of conspiracy to commit fifth-degree larceny, according to police.
Neither suspect was able to post $150,000 surety bonds, police said. Their cases have been continued in Enfield Superior Court, police said. Lauzon and Fournier were being held at the Hartford Correctional Center, according to the state Correction Department Web site.
The two men were charged in November with taking lottery tickets from a Mobil station at 680 Poquonock Ave. in Windsor. In that incident, police accused Lauzon and Fournier of stealing $200 worth of scratch-off lottery tickets and attempting to cash them at another Windsor convenience store.
Lauzon is being held on bonds totaling $250,500, according to the Correction Web site. He is due in Enfield Superior Court on Jan. 30, according to the state Judicial Department's Web site.
Fournier is being held on bonds totaling $250,250, according to the Correction Web site. He is due in Enfield Superior Court on Tuesday, according to the Judicial Department's Web site.
