NOTE: ALL LEGAL NOTICES ARE POSTED IN THE JOURNAL INQUIRER
The Zoning Board of Appeals consists of five regular and three alternates who are elected for four-year terms. The Board meets on the first Monday of each month at the Town Hall. All hearings are open to the public who may speak for or against an application or ask questions of the Board or applicant regarding a pending proposal.
Mission
The primary function of the Zoning Board of Appeals is to review and act upon applications for variances from the Zoning Regulations when it is determined that a literal interpretation of the law would create a unique hardship. The ZBA also hears and decides appeals where citizens allege that there is an error in any order, requirement, or decision made by the Zoning Enforcement Officer. The Board also acts as agent for the State of Connecticut in hearings for location approvals for new and used car dealer licenses, limited repairer licenses, general repairer licenses, and gas station licenses.
Staff
The ZBA is staffed through the Planning and Zoning Department, which handles applications and provides information to the public.
