Amendment to "An Ordinance Establishing A Veterans Commission

TOWN OF EAST WINDSOR


The following ordinance was adopted at a Special Town Meeting duly warned and held on April 28, 2010.  Said ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days from the publication thereof.
To amend and ordinance entitled” AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING A VETERANS COMMISSION”.
Ordinance 02-04
        The following ordinance sections to be amended to read:
MEMBERSHIP:
        The East Windsor Veterans Commission shall consist of nine (9) regular members and two (2) alternate members, all electors of the Town, to be appointed by the Board of Selectmen.   Not more than five (5) regular members of the Commission shall be members of the same political party.   Not less than five (5) members of the Commission shall be a veteran of the armed forces of the United States of America.  Honorary Veteran Commission members may be appointed by the Board of Selectmen as recommended by the East Windsor Veterans Commission.  Honorary members will serve in an advisory position only with no vote.  Commission members shall serve without compensation.
TERMS OF OFFICE:
        All commissioners shall be appointed for a term of four (4) years.  In the event of a vacancy in the commission’s membership, the succeeding member shall be appointed to serve the unexpired term of the vacating member.
