TOWN OF EAST WINDSOR
The following ordinance was adopted at a Special Town Meeting duly warned and held on September 25, 2000. Said ordinance shall become effective fifteen (15) days from the publication thereof.
“ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING AN
AMERICAN HERITAGE RIVER
Section 1. Establishment:
There shall be an American Heritage River Commission in the Town of East Windsor consisting of eleven (11) regular members and four (4) alternate members, who shall be electors of the Town and appointed by the Board of Selectmen. In addition, there may be as many non-voting associate members as desired by the Commission.
Section 2. Terms of Office:
Four member’s terms shall expire on November 1, 2002, four member’s terms shall expire on November 1, 2003 and three member’s terms shall expire on November 1, 2004. Alternate member’s (4): two terms shall expire November 1, 2002 and two terms shall expire November 1, 2004.
Section 3. Powers and Duties:
The Commission shall promote awareness and appreciation of the Connecticut River and it’s tributaries as both a historical and recreational resource for the residents of the Town of East Windsor.
The Commission shall compile and maintain an ongoing history of the Connecticut River and its tributaries as they relate to the Town of East Windsor.
The Commission shall propose and maintain a master plan for the preservation and/or development of properties bordering the Connecticut River and its tributaries.
The Commission shall maintain an updated inventory of property, both public and privately owned along the Connecticut River and its tributaries for the purpose of identifying and recommending acquisition by the Town by purchase, lease or gift.
The Commission shall explore and when possible secure sources of funds for the above purposes.
