About Us

The Building Department enforces all of the provisions of the Connecticut Basic Building Code, which was adopted by the Town of East Windsor in 1968. The Department acts on any questions relative to the mode or manner of construction and the materials to be used in the erection, addition, alteration, repair, removal, or demolition of same; the installation of service equipment and the location, use, occupancy and maintenance of all buildings and structures, except as otherwise specifically provided for by statutory requirement.

There are two full-time employees in the Department, a Building Official, an Assistant to the Building Official and a part-time Building Clerk. We assist the public with building codes, the permitting process (both building and mechanical), inspections, issuance of Certificate of Occupancy, etc. We also give assistance to attorneys, appraisers, architects, contractors, real estate agents, current and prospective homeowners and businessmen, etc., with information about buildings, structures, and properties located in Town.

We work closely with the following departments and agencies: Department of Consumer Protection; Department of Environmental Protection; Department of Transportation; East Windsor Police Department; North Central Health Department; Town / District Fire Marshals; Town Engineer; Town Planning and Zoning Department; Utility Companies Serving the Town of East Windsor; and the Water Pollution Control Authority.

Inspection schedule: Monday and Wednesday: 9:30 AM -11:00 AM / 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM Thursday: 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM
