About Us

Valuation and assessment of real and personal property, including motor vehicles, is the main function of the Assessor’s office. Connecticut law requires that all real estate, motor vehicles and certain types of personal property be assessed at 70% of fair market value. The primary objective of this assessment department is that each property owner bears their appropriate share of the tax burden.

The Assessor has the responsibility to discover, list and value all taxable and non-taxable property in order to compile the Grand List by the statutory date of January 31st. The October 1 Grand List is filed by the Assessor on January 31. The next scheduled Real Estate Revaluation is for October 1, 2023.
